My first encounter with Star Trek was during one of those first seasons at Stratford. I’d rented a cottage several miles out in the country, and my wife, who’d been away on tour used to get back on Saturdays and I would scuttle back after a matinee of Henry IV Part I or Hamlet, or whatever we were doing, and we would have toast and marmalade and tea, and Star Trek.
